Today, I successfully flagged off in Abuja the Grassroots LPG Penetration Programme for Women & Youths under the Decade of Gas initiative, with generous support from Smart Gas, A4E Energy and Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
This marks a significant step towards clean energy and economic empowerment in Nigeria.
It was an honor to have the Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye and Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim join us in this momentous event.
I also commend the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ambassador Nicholas Ella, and Coordinating Director, Decade of Gas, Mr. Edet Ubong for their unwavering support for the success of this cause.
Together we are on a mission to change millions of Nigerians’ lives in our six geographical zones.
By 2030, we want to convert 250,000 houses a year to clean cooking gas, which is a lofty but attainable target.
I urge all stakeholders in the gas value chain to support this initiative so that together we can banish the use of firewood, charcoal and kerosene as a source of cooking fuel from our homes.
